Volume of trade falls on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – On the first day of the week, the downward trend continued on the WSE. The volume of trade dropped however, blue chips worth PLN 836m changed hands, or over PLN 1bn less than on Friday.

During the day, it seemed that the WIG20 would get out of the red. Before noon, it rebounded the majority of its morning decrease of 1.4 percent. It was losing just 0.2 percent. Then, however, it was unable to rebound more. In addition, a cloud of smoke appeared over London and threat of a terrorist attack discouraged investors. Even when it turned out it was a fire, the WIG20 index did not rebound. It ended at 3,543.76 points, the lowest level today and 1.74 percent lower than of Friday. The 20 share blue chips index was at this level on September 12th recently. sWIG80, the index of small-caps lost 1.1 percent. mWIG40 shed 1.9 percent.
