He was an alchemist, now he is Midas – that’s how stock investors humorously describe Roman Karkosik (photo). No wonder. Within 12 months the portfolio compounded of his companies, including Alchemia and Midas, generated 251 percent of return against 40 percent of WIG, the main index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. But investors are unpredictable. Zbigniew Jakubas experienced it himself. His companies would have given a higher return, hadn’t it been for one mistake.
