WSE: the lowest volume of trade in three years

Shares worth PLN 456m changed hands for the lowest level since August 2005. One of the reasons could be the fact that LSE was closed due to Late Summer Holiday in the UK.

The WIG20 index ended 0.5 percent down. Bioton insulin was the best performer among blue chips. Analysts expect its stock may reach local high of PLN 0.45 this week. Today, the company rose 5.5 percent. PBG rebounded on ‘buy’ recommendation from Deutsche Bank. PGNiG gas monopoly and Grupa Lotos fuel giant talked on cooperation in oil and gas exploration in Norwegian shelf but their stock did not grow substantially. In fact, PGNiG lost 1.4 percent while Lotos gained 0.5 percent. BRE Bank dragged the WIG20 index down.

JWC homebuilding company ended almost 4 percent up on the news Jerzy Zdrzalka, its CEO, was stepping down. Jerzy Wojciechowski, JWC main shareholder and chairman will temporary head the company. Kopex rose over 6 percent after Marian Kostemski, the CEO, had said that US funds were interested in the producer of mining machines. Optimus IT company lost 5.5 percent after it had gained 10 percent on Friday. Skotan jumped 14 percent today but may lose tomorrow.

mWIG40 added 0.3 percent. WIG-Info, the subindex of IT companies rose 0.6 percent while the subindex of retailers lost 0.9 percent.
