Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – There are ten companies ready to help PKE reconstruct its two power plants: Halemba and Blachownia. Electrabel is said to be among them but CEZ is said to be missing.

Poludniowy Koncern Energetyczny (PKE) opened 10 offers to reconstruct its Halemba and Blachownia power plants. Five companies offered to take part in both projects, five offers concern one project only. PKE does not reveal the names of the companies. Piotr Pecka, PKE deputy CEO, said that European companies producing energy and trading with energy are among them, both present in Poland and those which are not yet present. According to “PB” sources, Belgian Electrabel is among them while Czech CEZ is not. Market specialists expect that French EDF, German RWE and PCC are also among the companies. German E.ON, Italian Enel and Spanish Endesa may be also interested in the projects.

Within a month, three short-lists will be ready (for two power plants and a waste incineration plant). Halemba, which is 44 years old, should be substituted with a new coal block with 440 MWe of power. Blachownia, which is 47 years old, should be replaced with a coal or coke gas block. They should start operations in 2012.
