Asseco Poland plans a big, expensive but very promising acquisition of Romanian Siveco company, one of the main candidates to win IT tenders in Romania. According to “PB” sources, Siveco is something Polish Prokom IT giant used to be in the past. Prokom is no longer there as it had been acquired by Asseco which plans further acquisitions. Adam Goral, Asseco Poland CEO confirms the news.
“We are in fact interested in Siveco. Preliminary negotiations are taking place. Siveco is a good company so a potential transaction would strengthen our position in this region. It is not a must, however, because Asseco South Eastern Europe is already a strong company getting ready to be listed”, Adam Goral said.
A huge IT contract has been launched in Romania to deliver nearly 500,000 computers with e-learning system. The budget of this project is evaluated at PLN 0.5bn (EUR 152.4m) but this is just the first of many further transactions. The next contract is evaluated at PLN 1bn. In Poland, the biggest contract for school computers amounted to PLN 300m and fewer than 100,000 computers were ordered. Siveco is told to be the most probable winner of the contracts in Romania. The company has 'Polish connections' already. A fund from Enterprise Investors (EI) has invested in Siveco while EI funds used to be Asseco’s investors as well. Siveco used to be a partner of ABG from Asseco group in a Romanian contract in the past.
