Banks draw Warsaw shares down, commodity stock help them up

The main index ended at 2,886.51 points following falls in Western European stock markets. Political uncertainty and anew fears that the Parliament would be dissolved earlier, adversely affected the zloty exchange rate, and then the stock market.

Commodity stock, including PGNiG, KGHM and PKN Orlen ended up again with rising oil prices. Oil rose to its highest level in four weeks. Pekao bank lost 3.35 percent to PLN 187.5 for the worst performance among WIG20 stock. Bank BPH shed 1.84 percent to PLN 800. Both companies suffer due to prolonging conflict between the Treasury and UniCredito Italiano, the owner of Pekao over the merger of the Polish banks. The European Commission said it would file a suit against Poland over blocking the merger.
