Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Beko, Turkish home appliances producer, which estimates to have 5 percent of the Polish market (this would give it the fifth place in the ranking), wants to double its market share within two years. ‘In 2004, our sales of washing machines and refrigerators amounted to EUR 20 m. This year, we hope it will grow to EUR 25-27 m. We are present in all big retailers’, Orhan Sayman, Beko Poland CEO said. Beko entered the Polish market in 1998. It planned to have 10 percent market share in 2000.

‘Sales growth in Poland is part of plans for all markets. This year, sales of Arcelik, the group to which Beko belongs, should grow by 10 percent to EUR 3 billion. We want to double world’s sales within five years’, Maciej Mienik, Beko sales director added. Beko plans to focus on promotion. The company has eight plans, including seven in Turkey and one in Romania. Beko is not going to invest in Poland. It wanted to acquire bankrupt plants in Poland but without success. In 2002 it failed to buy Moulinex-Brandt, and last year it gave up buying Grundig. Arcelik has acquired several smaller companies recently.
