Poland’s only listed poultry producer Indykpol was not affected by bird flu discovered on some poultry farms on Saturday. Yesterday, only 234 shares were sold and the stock fell over 3 percent. Representatives of the poultry branch are optimistic about the future.
“Discovering bird flue virus is not as big sensation as it used to be in the past. Both – our partners and consumers do not panic” Rajmund Paczkowski, CEO of Sadrob with a plant located just a dozen kilometers from the zone where the virus was found said.
This time, only poultry producers from Brudzen Duzy in Plock region will have problems. Marek Sawicki, minister of agriculture is positive about this. Just after the virus was discovered, he assured that suitable units must apply security means but there is no threat to the society.
“Basing on the experiences of other countries where bird flue appeared, we know it did not influence the consumers and producers. We hope it will be similar in Poland”, Marek Sawicki said.
Last year, poultry producers had PLN 600m (EUR 165.7m) of losses due to bird flu. Poultry exports from five regions of Poland were yesterday banned by the EU.
