Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – In exchange for Poland’s entrance into the warning and controlling system, Boeing offers investments which would come to Poland anyway. The government says ‘no’.

Entering AWACS system increased Poland’s security. The Ministry of National Defense estimates that annual costs amount to PLN 50-60m (EUR 13.1-15.7m). Companies and the government hope for U.S. investments worth USD 85m in exchange. Negotiations with Boeing and IAMCO delay.

“Boeing and IAMCO promised compensation programs. We haven’t reached agreement so far. They wanted us to include Dell’s investment in Lodz special economic zone. We could not accept it”, Pawel Poncyljusz, deputy Minister of Economy said.

The plant would be built whether Poland is part of AWACS or not. Besides, it is supported by the government. According to Pawel Poncyljusz, Boeing wanted to include the investments planned by Dell’s subcontractors but again the government refused.

“We want projects for military producers. We want to gain modern technologies in aviation, telecommunication and sea sectors”, Pawel Poncyljusz added.

“We are negotiating with Boeing. It’s not easy. I hope we will agree for new projects till June 11th”, Slawomir Kulakowski, the CEO of the Polish Chamber of National Defense Producers said.

Poland entered AWACS with delay – at the beginning of this year. That’s why it lost the chance for compensation connected with warning airplanes and airplane equipment production.
