Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) BOS, the biggest Polish-owned gross distributor of food products, has acquired Berti, a retailer from Szczecin, northern Poland.
We have bought 100 percent of Berti, Piotr Laskowski, BOS CEO said.
He refused to give the value of the transaction. BOS group, founded after the merger of DLS and Sygel-Jool, decided to buy Berti not to let its rival do the same. BOS promises to be a passive investor and says that BOS will welcome similar offers.
Thanks to capital from BOS we will be able to execute our investment plans, including launching new supermarkets and consolidation with companies similar to us, Robert Wiszowaty, Berti CEO said.
Berti manages supermarkets 600-700 square meters big. Today, it has 20 of them located in north-western Poland. Within two years, it plans to increase the number to 60 and cover central and northern Poland. Within 5-8 years, it wants to be a nation-wide retailer. BOS operates for 26,000 shops in the whole country. This year, it plans sales of PLN 2.3 billion (EUR 577.3m)(not consolidating Berti).
