On Friday, the contract to build and exploit a section of A1 highway from Strykow to Pyrzowice, was signed. Autostrad Poludnie, a consortium of Cintra, Ferrovial and Budimex, will build and then operate this section.
„We won’t give details until the contract is approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure”, Marek Michalowski, Budimex CEO said.
Cezary Grabarczyk, minister of infrastructure, said that this contract would
be signed this year. The contract provides for 180 km of highway. The budget
will exceed EUR 2bn. The government would like the highway to be ready before
EURO2012 but it’s not very probable that this deadline will be met.
