Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – CEZ, the Czech energy producer and distributor, wants to spend EUR 5 billion within 5 years. The majority will be spent on energy projects. In Poland, the group wants to buy three big power plants, including Dolna Odra, Kozienice and PAK. PAK is owned by Elektrim and the Treasury. “Talks with Elektrim concerning PAK acquisition are in the middle way”, Martin Roman, CEZ CEO said.
In two other projects, CEZ is on the short lists. In Dolna Odra power plant it is finishing its due diligence. In Kozienice, the due diligence will be conducted in July. “We would like to buy both power plants”, Martin Roman admitted.
CEZ wants to be leading energy company in Central and East-Southern Europe. It is investing in Romania and Bulgaria, and considers acquisitions in Monte Negro. Till 2009, it is ready to invest EUR 5 billion. “The group will have EUR 3 billion of free funds. We can also borrow EUR 2 billion”, Martin Roman said. In his opinion, CEZ was ready to invest in Poland all funds. It may buy Polish companies or exchange shares with energy groups.Poland/Enterprises/Energy
