European Investment Bank has this year financed projects in Poland worth EUR 647m. In the last five years, the credits amounted to EUR 8.3 billion. EIB is considering whether to lend Poland EUR 650m to build the Warsaw distribution road. At first, a 29-km-long section would be constructed worth EUR 1.1 billion. EIB stresses that before it approves the credit application, it must be sure that the project does not infringe Nature2000 program.
“We already have building permission. Society has been consulted as well. We are waiting for the Minister of Environment to approve of the plans”, Artur Mrugasiewicz from the National Directorate for National Roads and Highways said.
In 1-2 months, the tender to implement the project should be announced.
The whole ring-road for Warsaw will cost PLN 15 billion (EUR 3.9 billion).
