Solaris Bus&Coach, a company owned by Krzysztof Olszewski, is going to produce 1,000 buses this year. The number may be even 200-500 items higher. Last year, Solaris sold 702 vehicles against 243 in 2002. 302 vehicles were sold in Poland last year. The CEO thinks about exports, however. So far, Germany has been its major market. Now, the company eyes Ukraine.
“We are about to found Solaris Ukraina company. Because of Euro 2012 championships, a big increase in the demand for public transport vehicles is expected there”, Krzysztof Olszowski said.
Dubai is also a potential growth market. In June, Solaris will have delivered there the last buses out of an order of 225 ones. It will soon take part in a tender in Dubai to deliver 1,616 vehicles.
In 2007, Solaris had PLN 714m (EUR 202.8m) of sales against PLN 542m a year earlier. The company does not present its income.
