Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Ford has almost always been fifth in the ranking as far as the biggest number of passenger cars sold in Poland is concerned. Now it wants to be the fourth car producer.

Ford promises to change its situation within two years’ time.

“Next year, we will introduce new cars and have full range of models in Poland. This will make it possible for us to fight for the fourth place in the ranking as far as sales are concerned”, Adam Kolodziejczyk, Ford Polska head said.

Today, Opel from General Motors group is the fourth. Till the end of October, it sold 21,400 cars in Poland, or 8.6 percent more than a year earlier. Ford sold 17,800 cars, or 21.1 percent more than in 2006. The distance is quite big but analysts believe it may shrink.

“With new models in the offer, including the new Fiesta and KA, Ford’s chances to win will get bigger”, Wojciech Drzewiecki, CEO of Samar company monitoring the car market said.

Opel won’t let Ford win easily.

“We are also implementing many novelties next year. We are interested in becoming one of the first three biggest car producers selling in Poland”, Przemyslaw Byszewski, GM Poland spokesman replied.
