Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The French sports retailer launched 20 shops in Poland within eight years. They want to double the number within 6-7 years.
Groupe Go Sport, the retailer of sports clothes and shoes who has 159 shops worldwide, has so far launched 20 ones in Warsaw.
“We want to have 40 shops in Poland. We are going to launch three every year”, Monika Urbanowicz from Go Sport Polska said.
Rival Intersport which is going to be listed soon, has 12 shops and plans to have 22 of them in 2008. The company would like to increase its market share from 16 to 30 percent. In 2005, it had PLN 86.5m (EUR 21.5m). French Decathlon has only four big shops today but in four years it wants to have 44 ones. In 2005, the sales of this group amounted to PLN 113m. Go Sport beats both companies. It had sales of PLN 131m, 22 percent more than in 2004.
“This year we expect a 15 percent increase. First half plans have been fulfilled”, Monika Urbanowicz assured.
Groupe Go Sport was founded in 1978 in France. It has been listed in Paris since 1986. The first Go Sport shop was launched in Poland in 1998. The company employs 600 people in Poland. This year, it opened a logistic center 10,000 square meters big. It may deliver goods to 50 shops.
