Lockheed Martin (LM), one of the three companies attempting to sell its combat aircraft to the Polish military, has announced plans for the IT sector. The company employs some 25,000 people working in this field and this represents around one fifth of the entire workforce.
Lockheed Martin is seeking partners with a technology that would match theirs such as systems integrators Prokom and Computerland. LM says that it could aid in finding new technology for them through strategic partners in the USA.
American partners would be highly useful in bidding for and winning tenders abroad. Lockheed Martin is currently seeking to win tenders to produce air control and postal systems in eastern Europe. At this stage it is very difficult to predict what Polish companies could gain from this. Lockheed Martin has not discounted buying a stake in the Polish military equipment companies — something which would very much please the industrial development agency ARP.
