Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The consolidation of Polish medicine producers may be delayed by another month due to changes in the Ministry of the Treasure.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The consolidation of Polish medicine producers may be delayed by another month due to changes in the Ministry of the Treasure.

The merger of three state-owned medicine producers, Polfa Pabianice, Polfa Warszawa and Polfa Tarchomin owned by Polski Holding Farmaceutyczny, an idea proposed by the MPs of the Law and Justice (PiS) ruling party in 2005, has not been implemented yet. In March, the Minister of the Treasury Wojciech Jasinski initially approved the project. The deputy Minister of the Treasury responsible for the pharmacy sector Maciej Heydel was “for”, too. He wants to resign, however, and although his resignation has not been admitted, there are many changes going on in the ministry.

As agreed earlier, the three companies were to be merged into one firm, the way sugar producers from Krajowa Spolka Cukrowa were. First, the sugar group operated as a holding of 26 companies. Within over two years, they were merged into a holding. KSC has started generating income. PHF as a holding could also be a good idea as the company could increase its market share from 7 percent to 10 percent.

“The present program will probably be implemented. It’s just a matter of time”, Pawel Jakubowski, minister Heydel’s advisor calmed down.

The more the strategy for PHF is delayed, the less probable that the company will be listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange this year.
