Indices rebound on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

The WIG20 index, which was losing 2.8 percent in the morning, ended just 0.54 percent down. Companies whose major investor is Ryszard Krauze paced the advances.

Bioton insulin producer and Prokom IT company do not have big influence on the value of WIG20. However, their jumps of 12.5 and 5.2 percent respectively make impression. Bioton stock worth PLN 120m changed hands after the company published good first quarter results. Prokom also presented very good results but the volume of trade was eight times lower.

 

KGHM copper producer shed 3.7 percent on Tuesday to PLN 116 while shares worth PLN 405m changed hands, or 30 percent of the whole trade with blue chips. Investors did not react to the increase of copper in London to USD 8,199.5 a ton. Netia was the worst performer among blue chips. The telecom disappointed with first quarter results (PLN 10.78m of net loss against PLN 23.11m of net income a year earlier) and dived 6.4 percent. PGNiG gas monopoly rose 2.3 percent to PLN 4.05 after the company said it had PLN 620.17m of net income in the first quarter, up from PLN 544.14m a year earlier.
