Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Jutrzenka, Poland’s sweet producer rose over 10 percent yesterday to PLN 63.5 (EUR 15.2). Rumours appeared in the market that after it successfully acquired rival Goplana, it wants to start talks with listed Mieszko. ‘No comment’, Jan Kolanski, the CEO and main shareholder in Jutrzenka said. According to ‘Puls Biznesu’ sources, he had met Marek Moczulski, Mieszko CEO, several times. Talks did not bring final decisions.

The question remains, what the reaction of Central European Confectionary Holdings (CECH) investment fund, would be. CECH is Mieszko main shareholder. ‘I’ve had no news concerning talks with Jutrzenka although I should have’, Leszek Muzyczyszyn, the chairman of the board nominated by CECH said. Mieszko is still doing poorly in comparison with its listed rivals. Hence its weak share price. Jutrzenka is busy improving results: in the first quarter its net income rose to PLN 9.3 m, or 14 percent, and exceeded the whole last year’s income.
