Kaczynski was more business-friendly than Tusk

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) - Shocking news: the reform package aimed at facilitating the life of entrepreneurs promoted by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, ex-CEO of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, is more liberal than the offer of the present coalition of Citizens’ Platform (PO) and the Peasants’ Party (PSL). A joke, a disappointment, a mistaken reform – this is how businessmen commented the plans presented yesterday by the government which has so far enjoyed full support from the business.

Yesterday, the government approved of the amendment of the law on economic freedom. Only two important issues were left after clerks raised their objections to the bill: the possibility to suspend business for a period of time and binding interpretations from ZUS social insurance company.

“What the government approved of is cosmetics. PO made entrepreneurs expect a lot, it promised real economic freedom and now the government offers minimal changes which solve no problems and remove no barriers at all”, Andrzej Malinowski, head of the Confederation of Polish Employers (KPP) said.

“We are disappointed. Economic freedom was one of PO’s election promises. So far, the government has failed to make the promises come true”, Malgorzata Krzysztoszek, PKPP Lewiatan expert added.

“This is not half of a reform even. The original bill was much better”, Jaroslaw Chalas, Business Centre Club (BCC) expert believed.

Opposition parties are overjoyed.

“PO would complain over our package and now it turns out that it was much better for entrepreneurs than the present bill prepared by Donald Tusk’s government”, Maks Kraczkowski, PiS MP commented.

“I compared both bills. The one from PiS contains much more solutions expected by companies. It also provides for suspension of activity and ZUS interpretations but it also aims at reducing controls in companies, implements one-stop-shop, things lacking in the present bill”, Jaroslaw Chalas said.

“Comparing PiS bill and what was left over from minister Szejnfeld’s bill, I believe that the one from the opposition goes further and is better for companies”, Malgorzata Krzysztoszek admitted.

The bill prepared by PiS has been waiting in the parliament since December 2007.
