KGHM Ecoren will invest in installations aimed to retrieve metals. It wants to produce rhenium and nickel. Both projects are worth PLN 30m (EUR 8.4m). Ecoren already produces ammonium sold to, among others, Roll-Royce. The company has just signed a five-year contract worth USD 100m.
KGHM Ecoren is Europe’s sole producer of ammonium perrhenate from its own sources, which are leftovers from copper production. The company plans an IPO. Mariusz Bober, the company’s CEO, said that PLN 75m are put aside for investments in 2008.
