Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Unless KGHM management agrees to pay out extra bonuses, the employees of the listed copper producer will go on strike.

Today it should be known whether the managers of KGHM gave up to the staff’s demands and will give it bonuses for this year’s financial results. To meet the demand of KGHM’s all trade unions would cost PLN 90m (EUR 22m). One of the trade unions in KGHM – ZZPPM – is in public dispute with the management and a referendum is being conducted whether to go on strike or not. Another trade union, ZZPD, also threatens to organize a strike unless the bonuses are paid till July 7.

In the first five months of this year, KGHM had PLN 1.5 billion of net income, or 70 percent more than in the same period of 2005.

(PLN 1 = EUR 0.245)
