Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The Polish flag carrier accuses wants Ryanair to apologize. The Irish low-cost says there is nothing to apologize for. The clash may end in a court.

LOT accuses Ryanair for unfair competition practices. It demands an apology and threatens with court. LOT management is angry with the ad and press info published by the low-cost carrier.

“LOT accuses Ryanair for using a comparative advertising, and particularly for devaluating LOT’s offer with words like “crime””, Xawery Konarski from Traple Konarski Podrecki lawyers office representing LOT explained.

Ryanair used these expressions when claiming that LOT demands too high fuel fees.

“The advertisement does not tell the clients the whole truth because it compares only one element of the whole price, i.e. the fuel fee”, Xawery Konarski explained.

Ryanair explained that the advertisement is “humorous and shows objective data which may be easily verified”. And adds that “the only reason LOT objects the ad is that it is true”. LOT doesn’t like either that Ryanair offered free tickets to 10 first LOT employees who send an email criticizing their own company. LOT stresses that all it wants is making Ryanair preparing its advertisements according to the Polish and EU law. The Polish flag carrier is not interested in compensation. But it demanded Ryanair to withdraw the advertisement within fortnight and send a press release within 7 days. The deadline of the latter has passed. LOT threatened with legal action.
