Lubawka won’t get motorway

The decision to bring up Polish roads to EU standards would mean that the construction of the A3 motorway linking Szczecin with the Czech border at Lubawka will finally get th axe.

In any case the 365 km motorway was not planned until 2015 at the earliest. The biggest loser of this decision is the port of Szczecin-Świnoujście which will see transit trade directed to neighbouring countries. A study made three years ago suggested that traffic densities would have to quadruple before the motorway could be considered.
