Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – mBank, one of two retail units of BRE Bank, is going to implement new services. The client will decide by himself, how high the interest of his credit card and the annual fee will be.

“Since March 1st, we will propose our clients to choose one of the three options of credit cards interest: 12, 14 or 16 percent. The cards with the lower interest will have the highest annual fee, and vice versa – those with the highest interest will have the lowest fee”, Paulina Rutkowska, mBank spokeswoman explained.

The levels of the interest will change in several months to 15, 17 and 19 percent.

The offer is to encourage people to use their credit cards more.

“Today only 20 percent of our clients pay interest. The rest pays the debt back. We believe that when the interest is similar to the one of a credit, people will start having debts in their cards, too”, Paulina Rutkowska explained.

Other banks have different methods.

“Our clients who use their cards very actively, do not pay the annual fees”, Piotr Utrata, ING BSK spokesman said.

Bank BPH has a similar solution. mBank will introduce a similar offer.
