Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – mBank, the first Polish virtual mobile network operator, launched its services yesterday.
mBank, the internet unit of BRE Bank, offers mobile services as mBank mobile.
“We have no ambition to become a VMNO but we want to offer an added value to our clients, and earn some money”, Slawomir Lachowski, BRE Bank CEO said.
In 2007, mBank mobile wants to have 162,500 clients and PLN 1m (EUR 263,000) of net income. In 2008 it plans to raise these numbers to 312,500 clients and PLN 13m of net income. The internet bank wants to have 2m clients at the end of 2009.
mBank signed agreement with Polkomtel, the operator of Plus mobile network, on December 6th.
“This is the second agreement for the access to Polkomtel’s network but not the last one. In 2007, we expect 2-3 similar agreements”, Jaroslaw Bauc, Polkomtel’s CEO said.
Analysts expect that within 1-2 years, VMNOs will have 12 percent of the market.
