The new mobile offer of mBank is a step towards a price war. Rivals will have to introduce new offers as well.

The virtual mobile operator owned by BRE Bank, mBank mobile, has modified its offer after five months of operations. It has implemented a flat rate for inland calls to all mobile networks and it has the cheapest pre-paid offer in Poland. Its offer is even cheaper than this of Play, the fourth mobile operator in Poland. Play and mBank offers are several dozens percent lower than those of the largest mobile telecoms.

For the time being, rivals do not have to worry too much with mBank’s new offer. The virtual operator wants to lure mainly its own banking clients (mBank has over 1.3m of them). Till the end of the year, mBank wants to have 160,000 subscribers and raise PLN 1m (EUR 264,000) of net income in this business. Next year, the number of subscribers should double while net income is supposed to grow to PLN 13m.
