Medicover starts building a private hospital in Warsaw this month. This is going to be one of the biggest investments of private healthcare companies in Poland.

There are several dozens private hospitals but only two companies: Lux-Med and Medicover planned building their own hospitals from the very beginning. Lux-Med’s owner has changed recently and the plans were shifted. Swedish Medicover is about to launch the project.

„We have been waiting for the building permission which we have just received”, Bartosz Maciejewski, Medicover spokesman said. Construction works will be launched this month. There are going to be 180 beds in the hospital. The project will cost EUR 40m.

Medicover builds the hospital for its clients. In the future, however, Medicover is going to offer health insurance via its subsidiary which has recently been registered in Sweden. “We want to found a hospital available not only to Medicover clients but also to clients of other health insurance companies, and potentially to the patients of the national health fund”, Agnieszka Szpara, Medicover Poland CEO said.
