J&S Energy, a company specialising in trading in the chemical and petrochemical industries, has announced that it intends to make its presence felt on the Polish market through the construction of a network of filling stations. It will not be its debut in this country as last May it acquired a company with six petrol stations in Szczecin and two fuel depots. It is also importing fuel from Germany. This year imports will come to 350,000 tons.
It has announced that it will increase the number of its filling stations over the next two years to sixty. They will operate under the DUO brand. At least thirty percent of the fuel it imports will be retailed by the company. According to Grzegorz Zambrzycki, MD of J&S Energy, this will increase profits.
Zambrzycki did not want to commit himself on the cost of these investments. However he pointed out that the company does have its own resources as well as a good credit history.
The cost of building one petrol station is around USD1m, in the case of J&S Energy the plan is that around half will be franchised whilst the remainder will be directly owned.
Grzegorz Zambrzycki claims that many private petrol station owners have shown an interest in selling their businesses due to difficulties in the sector this year. However a network could also be acquired from another operator.
