Puls has recently promised to fight for no. 1 position in Poland. It was supposed to get out of the red in 2009. However, it will be very difficult for the broadcaster to increase the number of clients – today, Puls reaches 16 percent of viewers, and jointly with cable and satellite television, 56 of them. After Citizens’ Platform (PO) won elections, the broadcaster may not count on getting new frequencies. Before, after Rupert Murdoch had met PM Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the company was promised to get part of frequencies reserved for terrestrial digital television.
This has changed. The Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) believes, a more interesting way to use the frequencies has just appeared.
“We did not want to have the frequencies unused so we decided it would be better to use them this way. But the initiative of mobile television appeared and it is a more interesting way to dispose of the frequencies”, Anna Strezynska, UKE CEO said.
TV Puls did not comment as Dariusz Dabski, its
chairman authorized to give comment, is abroad.
