New airports boss soon

Treasury minister Jerzy Widzyk should be making a decision in the next few days on the new chairperson of Polish airports authority PPPL. Maciej Kalita was recently removed officially for irregularities in the legal ownership of Rzeszow airport in south east Poland. However rumour has it that it was forced to leave due to reasons over the tender to modernise the terminal at Warsaw’s Okecie airport. Whatever happens however, the results of the tender will not be over turned. On Friday an initial announcement will be made which two companies are to modernise terminal one and build a new terminal two. There are six consortia in the bidding led by Strabag Polska, Ferrovial Agroman, Bouygues Batiment, Hochtief AG, Bilfinger + Berger Bauaktiengsellschaft and Skanska International Civil Engineering AB. The full cost of the investment is estimated to be around USD350m.
