Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – ZUS social insurance company and the Polish Post, as well as the army and police authorities will soon announce big tenders. PC producers are impatiently waiting for them.

In 2008, a big project of providing computers for schools worth PLN 1.5bn (EUR 433.5m) will be concluded. Within this program, 300,000 PCs, thousands of notebooks, servers and periphery equipment will be delivered. The tender to provide 6,000 schools with 60,000 computers worth PLN 281m is one of the last orders from the ministry of education.

PC producers listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, including Action, NTT System and Optimus face several big tenders this year, however.

At least 20,000 computers will be exchanged at ZUS social insurance company. Four tenders announced last year should be concluded within several weeks. Dell and Action are the most probable winners here.

The Polish post Poczta Polska should – according to “PB” sources – buy 5,000-7,000 computers this year. There will be no one big tender but several smaller ones. Poczta Polska unit in Krakow has already announced a tender to deliver 1,500 PCs.

The Police face big acquisitions for some dozens thousand computers. The Agency for Agriculture Restructuring and Modernization which last year annulled a tender to deliver 3,000 computers should announce it again. The tender to deliver additional 7,000 PC for PZU insurer should be conducted in upcoming weeks.

Last year, 271m computers were sold in the world, according to Gartner. IDC said that 3m computers were sold in Poland.
