PKO BP chooses IT supplier
It would appear that bank PKO BP is about to choose the centralised IT system manufactured by the American Alltel. This will be one of the largest IT projects currently around in Europe.
PKO BP was initially advised by Deloitte & Touche and then by KPMG.
Krzysztof Misiński, director of the IT systems at PKO BP claimed that the choice of a supplier was still going on. Alltel's system, he said, is considered to be good but that does not mean that it fulfills all the bank's requirements he warned. One of the biggest problems for the Americans is that their system does not have any references in Europe. Another problem is a lack of Polish consultants who know the system.
It is not clear if Softbank, which maintains the current branch Zorba system is involved in the project.
