PKP Intercity employees want to take part in its privatisation

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Jacek Przesluga, the CEO of PKP Intercity, has a new project of his company privatisation. 2,300 of PKP Intercity’s employees want to take part in it jointly with a financial investor.

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Jacek Przesluga, the CEO of PKP Intercity, has a new project of his company privatisation. 2,300 of PKP Intercity’s employees want to take part in it jointly with a financial investor.

The employees want to found a company which will buy Intercity from PKP. Polish financial investors want to joint the project. Apart from their own engagement, they may borrow money to the employees who want to buy out the shares, Jacek Przesluga explained.

He assured that both banks and private businessmen are interested in the project.

The project of PKP’s reform made for PiS and PO coalition parties by Krzysztof Tchorzewski, provides for PLN 403m (EUR 103.6m) of revenues from Intercity’s privatisation. Krzysztof Tchorzewski admits that a branch investor is not necessary in this transaction.

To get the capital is vital and it must be granted by the process, he said.

This is going to be record year for PKP Intercity. After nine months, its net income amounted to PLN 15m against PLN 44m of loss in the same period of last year. The number of passengers rose 1.2 m to 7m. Sales amounted to PLN 672m.
