Poland: Eureko and Treasury get more time for settlement

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The arbitrary court has postponed the deadline for Eureko and Polish Treasury Ministry to reach settlement in the conflict concerning PZU, Poland’s largest insurer, for January 10th. The Dutch company accused the Polish government for failing to protect its interests. Eureko bought a stake in PZU in 2000 and wanted to increase it to 21 percent claiming that the buy option was part of the privatisation agreement signed with the Polish government. The latter declined to sell further shares to Eureko. ‘Both parties asked the deadline to be postponed’, Agnieszka Dluska from the Treasury Ministry said. The settlement is necessary for PZU prior to its listing.
