Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Polish EU ministry UKIE asked the Representation of European Commission (REC) to explain why several tenders in the agriculture were cancelled. ‘I would like to draw your attention to several tender proceedings, vital for agriculture, which were not ended satisfactory. In my opinion, it would be advisable to control the decision to reject the reports in more detail’, UKIE wrote to REC. The Polish ministry mentioned a tender for training of workers of the agriculture restructuring and modernisation agency (ARiMR) and the tender for milk processing. Unofficial sources say that the first contract was worth over EUR 1 m, and the latter EUR 300,000.
The problem appeared when REC rejected the documents from the tender for BSE tests. Poland was to receive even EUR 12 m for this project. If the winner is not chosen till the end of February, the money will be lost. Poland’s veterinary authorities have decided to spend their own money for the tests. ‘We still believe we will be able to get the EU funds’, Tadeusz Kozek, a deputy minister in UKIE said.
Unofficial sources close to the tender say that a Dutch expert from REC who took part in the tender evaluation process was taking away some documents and suggested allowing a Dutch company take part in the tender despite the company did not have suitable certificates. ‘I asked internal controlling organs to check these accusations. But to state things clearly, I do not believe in that Dutch connection’, Bruno Dethomas, REC head commented.
