Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – PZU, Poland’s biggest insurer, has resigned from part of offer, which had to be delivered by Prokm, Poland’s biggest IT company and CSC, world’s giant. PZU decided not to buy from the consortium the main IT system for its business although the companies won a tender in 2004. The agreement was worth several hundred million zlotys, or even PLN 2 billion (EUR 491 m) within 4-6 years. Exceed implementation only was worth USD 50 m (EUR 38.7 m).

‘Prokom and CSC were to be the preferred deliverers for the insurer, but now a tender to build central data base is being conducted, where Prokom and CSC have not been invited’, “Puls Biznesu” source said. Neither Prokom nor PZU commented that issue. ‘This may bring advantages and disadvantages for Prokom. On the one hand, the listed company will still have the client and the opportunity to sign further contracts. On the other hand, PZU decision may be the first in a series of moves aimed at cost cuts, which is not a good prospective for its IT deliverer’, Wlodzimierz Giller, Deutsche Bank analyst commented.

The biggest IT projects implemented by Prokom include those for PZU worth PLN 1.5 billion, TPSA telecom worth PLN 700 m a year, PKO BP bank worth PLN 590 m, vehicle registration system CEPiK worth PLN 190 m.
