The businessman has not yet heard what he is
accused of but he can already count his losses. They amount to half a billion
zloty. So far. The prosecutor’s office wants to present him the allegations
connected with the affair in the Ministry of Agriculture. This was a sign for
stock investors to sell their stocks. Krauze’s companies started to dive.
Investors were in panic. The portfolio of the businessman shrank yesterday. His
stake in Prokom Software lost PLN 39m, in Polnord by PLN 109m, in Bioton by PLN
102m, in Pol-Aqua by PLN 37m (EUR 10.2m) and in Petrolinvest by PLN 255m.
In the morning, Janusz Kaczmarek, ex-minister of interior affairs
and Jaromir Netzel, PZU CEO were stopped. They allegedly disturbed investigation
in the leakage of the action of Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) in the
ministry of agriculture. Then, it turned out that Ryszard Krauze would also be
investigated. The businessman is supposed to take part in a dinner when the
leakage took place. Ryszard Krauze was not stopped – he is abroad. In a short
conversation with “PB”, the businessman refused to comment. His house was
searched.
“I’m shocked. Mr. Krauze is a serious businessman who proved that
he has good hand in business. Any prevention measures should be applied very
carefully here”, Andrzej Arendarski, the CEO of KIG economic chamber commented.
“We don’t care whether someone is deputy prime minister or someone powerful
in business. We have one rule – all are equal for the law”, prime minister
Jaroslaw Kaczynski said.
“Who’ll be responsible for the losses of the
companies and their shareholders? We have had examples of entrepreneurs who were
accused and announced innocent”, Andrzej Malinowski, president of the
Confederation of Polish Employers KPP said.
