Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The mobile operator wants to have more clients than Era. However, the profitability is falling during this fight.
Polkomtel, the operator of Plus and Sami Swoi mobile networks, had 11.1m clients at the end of September. This was a level planned for the whole of this year.
“Now, we aim to have 12m subscribers at the end of December”, Jaroslaw Bauc, Polkomtel CEO said.
PTK Centertel, the operator of Orange, and Poland's leader as far as the number of clients is concerned, will also exceed its forecasts. Both companies rise while PTC, the operator of Era and Heyah, is losing its market share. According to Centertel, at the end of June, Era had 33.6 percent of the market while Plus 32.1 percent and Orange 34.3 percent.
“We want to have about 33 percent of the market at the end of this year, which means we would be bigger than Era”, Jaroslaw Bauc said.
However, the fight for the market, which should reach 100 percent of saturation next year, costs a lot.
“Costs of telephone conversations are falling, while we have to increase subsidies for better and better telephones”, Jaroslaw Bauc explained.
That’s why Polkomtel’s net income will be similar to last year’s when it amounted to PLN 1.07 billion (EUR 270.7m).
