Roman Karkosik pays back its Elliott loan

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Roman Krakosik paid USD 45m to the US investment company.

The fact that Roman Karkosik had borrowed money from Elliott was revealed in May. There were market speculations that the investor had financial difficulties and was looking for entities which would lend him a dozen million zlotys. Karkosik would deny the news. According to the rumors, the Elliott credit was the reason for his problems. According to data from numerous sources, the Americans lent Karkosik USD 45m he needed to buy stock of Alchemia, one of the companies he controls. Elliott expected to be paid back in August.

“I paid the loan yesterday”, Roman Karkosik said.

The well-known investor used to stress that the loan let him earn money in fact. Because of zloty appreciation, he borrowed PLN 130m (EUR 39.7m) and paid back PLN 97m. The investor did not want to reveal the origin of the funds necessary to pay back the credit.
