Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – Public television is going to raise the price of its commercials by 10 percent.
The Polish Television TVP wants to increase its sales generated by commercials by at least 7 percent.
“The minimum we provide is the market average. But if TVP1 looses more viewers we may have problems with the growth of 7 percent”, Piotr Gawel, the member of the board in TVP responsible for marketing said.
In 2005, TVP had PLN 950m (EUR 244.4m) of sales generated by commercials.
TVP, which has 40 percent of the TV commercial market, is going to raise prices by 10 percent.
“We had a similar price increase last year”, Zbigniew Badziak, the marketing bureau director in TVP said.
Changes in TVP will result in price increases in private TV stations.
“TVP has a domineering position on the market and it sets the trends. The price increase in TVP will start the wave of price increases in other broadcasting companies”, Piotr Her from DM Millennium said.
The cost of 1 GRP in TVP amounts to PLN 3,000. TVP believes that in TVN it is 20 percent less and in Polsat 35-40 percent less.
