Bio fuels are undoubtedly in fashion. It is true that the bill regulating the industry is still at the consultancy stage but that has not put off potential producers who are falling over themselves trying to get the ball rolling. Profits could be large and that is why the business has attracted giants like copper and silver miner KGHM Polska Miedz and gas potentate Bartimpex which belongs to controversial businessman Aleksander Gudzowaty. The agricultural ministry believes that in 2006 around 600,000 tons of fuel produced from beetroot could be used worth around USD140m.
