The treasury has 735 companies in which it has a 25 percent stake or less. In one company, Lafarge Cement Polska, it has less than a 0.0008 percent holding. In almost 400 companies its holding is under ten percent. In view of the fact that it can have next to no effect on the management of these companies it has opened its own investment fund in which stocks such as these will be placed.
If the fund is professionally managed it may be a reasonable source of income for the hard pressed budget. A tender to find a management company will be announced shortly.
