WIG20 ends at its lowest level since mid-September

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – WIG20 lost 1.92 percent today, and 5.4 percent this week. Today, shares worth as much as PLN 1.9bn changed hands.

In the last hour of trading, the 20 share blue chips index dived to 3,545.56 points, the level it last fell to two months ago. It ended at 3,606.62 points. Only 9 days ago, WIG20 hit its new record of 3,917.87 points. Since October 29th, it has shed nearly 8 percent.

 

PKO Bank which presented very good third quarter results, ended 1.7 percent up while shares worth PLN 530m changed hands. KGHM copper producer dragged the market down. Its stock dived 4.9 percent while the volume of trade was close to PLN 300m. CEZ resisted the downward trend. Hadn’t it been for Thursday loss of 3.5 percent, this week would have been very good. However, the stock managed to grow only 0.5 percent in the last five days. PGNiG gas monopoly has added 4.2 percent this week despite falling markets. Bioton insulin producer was among the worst performers this week. The stock has dived 20 percent. The company presents its quarterly results on November 14th. Polimex-Mostostal construction company has shed 17.1 percent, including 5.2 percent today. The company’s shares fell to PLN 8.5 despite substantially higher consolidated net income and sales.
