WIG20 raises over 3 percent this week

Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index was approaching the 1,900 points level when investors decided to start selling their shares. The index of blue chips ended the day at 1,884.68, or 0.44 percent higher than on Thursday. Within the recent week, it has gained 3.09 percent.

The index of blue chips ended the day at 1,884.68, or 0.44 percent higher than on Thursday. Within the recent week, it has gained 3.09 percent. After the session ended, Poland’s central statistical office GUS published data about industrial production, which fell in April by 1 percent, less then expected by economists (4.6 percent). GUS said also that PPI rose in April by 0.8 percent year on year, which was close to economists’ expectations.

Today, PKN Orlen fuel giant was the most traded company. Shares worth PLN 120 m (EUR 28.8 m) changed hands and added 0.9 percent. CAIB raised its recommendation from ‘keep’ to ‘buy’ with target price of PLN 47. Prokom Software was the best performer, and gained 2.9 percent. Ryszard Krauze, its CEO said the company would spend 10-40 percent of income to pay dividend this year. Another good news was that its shareholder, Prokom Investments started co-operation with Spanish Fadesa.

Agora media group jumped 1.5 percent. Yesterday, CAIB lowered its recommendation from ‘buy’ to ‘keep’. Today, DM BZ WBK raised its recommendation from ‘keep’ to ‘buy’ evaluating a share at PLN 82.6. KGHM copper producer was the worst performer among blue chips and lost 1.4 percent.
