Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The WIG20 index rose 0.76 percent to 2,921.21 points while shares of blue chips worth PLN 912m changed hands, 9 percent more than yesterday.
MIDWIG and WIRR hit new records. MIDWIG, the index of mid caps gained 1.3 percent to 2,895.79 points while WIRR added 1.2 percent to 8,815.89 points. WIG and WIG-PL which yesterday stopped the upward trend for a while, today hit all-time records and ended at 41,216.45 and 41,049.49 points respectively. WIG20 needs 1.18 percent to reach its all-time record of 2,955.74 points.
Bioton and Boryszew noted very high increases. The insulin producer jumped 7.8 percent to record of PLN 19.45 while shares worth PLN 116m changed hands. The company is planning an issue. Boryszew rose 6.8 percent to PLN 30 while shares worth PLN 50m changed hands. On March 30, the company sold over 18,000 shares of Skotan. Bank BPH continued falls after the compromise was reached between the Ministry of the Treasure and Unicredit providing for selling 200 outlets of Bank BPH. KBC group of Belgium which controls Kredyt Bank and Warta insurer is interested. Bank BPH fell 3.8 percent to PLN 745.5 on Thursday. Pekao, which is supposed to merge the rest of Bank BPH’s outlets rose 1.9 percent to PLN 192. KGHM copper producer hit its new record for the fourth consecutive day. The company ended at PLN 90. Dealers expect that copper prices will rise further to USD 6,000 a ton.
Bank Millennium jumped 12.9 percent to PLN 7.9, the highest level since September 2000. The company is going to pay out PLN 0.54 of dividend a share. A year ago, it was PLN 0.28 a share. 85 percent of the 2005 net income will be spent for dividend this year. Mostostal Export construction company added 7 percent to the highest level in four years. On Thursday, the company said it signed a EUR 20.4m contract to build houses in Russia, yesterday the company said in signed another contract in the East worth EUR 10.7m.
