Warsaw (Puls Biznesu) – The new quarter started in a very promising way. The WSE did not grow as much as other exchanges but the WIG20 index exceeded the psychological barrier of 3,000 points.

In the first minutes of trading, the market was bearish. UBS and Deutsche Bank said they would ascribe big amounts due to expected losses. Then, however, the WSE rebounded because Western European markets kept growing despite the threats. The stock of UBS rose on the plans of a new shares issue. Majority of investors expect that after two quarters of decreases, the third one will be better.

After the Wall Street opened high, WSE indices started to grow. WIG20 ended 1.6 percent up. Strong dollar and falling commodity prices adversely affected KGHM copper producer. TP telecom was weak as well. Banks were pacing the advances. PKN Orlen fuel giant gained despite turmoil on the commodity market. Trakcja Polska which had its debut today, jumped 23 percent. Shares of companies listed on the WSE worth PLN 1.6bn changed hands.
