This week, however, the WIG20 index lost 1.7 percent although today it ended 0.96 percent up. Last week, the 20 share blue chips index gained nearly 3.8 percent.
TVN TV broadcaster jumped 10 percent this week to
PLN 23.55. The volume of trade was very high, a sign that big investors buy the
stock. The company fights against rival Telewizja Puls and had filed a suit to
TV authorities claiming that concession to use transmitters in several cities
should be taken away from the company backed by Rupert Murdoch. BRE Bank, the
smallest bank among blue chips, gained 3.1 percent after HSBC had issued a
recommendation with PLN 695 as target price. BRE Bank’s all time record was PLN
600. Today, it closed PLN 7 lower. PBG construction company lost 9.4 percent to
PLN 357.9 after it had issued a new forecast of PLN 91m of net income this year.
Banks were dragged the WSE down most seriously along with construction
companies. Pekao shed 5.2 percent to PLN 250 giving away nearly all the gains
reached in the first half of the month.
