The WIG20 index opened nearly 1 percent up, quickly reached 2,666 points but did not manage to exceed it. Just after the Polish MPC said it was raising interest rates, the WIG20 was trading lower than yesterday. Then, however, it ended 0.3 percent.
The advances were paced by Pekao bank which jumped 2.7 percent. KGHM copper
producer and PKO BP bank rose about 1 percent each. PKN Orlen fuel giant lost
1.1 percent. Other fuel companies, including Grupa Lotos and Petrolinvest also
ended in the red. mWIG40 index managed not to fall but sWIG80 disappointed
again.
